I joined my friends Steve, Molly, and Jeana at the final stage of the 2008 Tour of California. The final stage rolled though Pasadena which is only an hour a way. Some of the world's greatest riders compete in this early-season event. We were lucky enough to set up camp right at the finish line where we saw all of the racers fly by for several laps before witnessing, first hand, George Hincapie's win over the field! It was awesome being so close to the Team High Road (now Columbia) celebration. George Hincapie and Mark Cavendish were literally only a few feet away. We even snuck in to the VIP area afterwards for the awards ceremony and feasted off nice warm chocolate chips cookies. We looked down on the commoners as they walked by our VIP tent.
Big George Hincapie leadin' out the pack
before the final surge to the finish line.
